SEMINAR REPORT 2001
“When
we have to do with an art, whose end is the saving of human kind, Any neglect to make ourselves masters of it, becomes a crime.” …Dr. Samuel Hahnemann
Message from Dr. Prasad S. Shetye
From our hearts we condole the death of our teacher Dr. R. D. Jain
who sincerely strived to further the cause of homoeopathy. He has left his
legacy behind in the form of different books and we hope they will always be
helpful to all those who care to read them. We pray for him and his family.
Organon
is the ‘Way’ … and it reveals the simplest truth
‘Homoeopathy’. It only needs to be understood, accepted and internalized by
us as homoeopaths.
For in it all your questions in your quest for healing the mind, body and
soul are answered. If we ponder and reflect we can aid the ailing, the sick on
to their rightful journey NOT OUTWARDS but INWARDS as Dr. Hahnemann so wisely
puts it … ‘Towards the higher purpose of his existence’
--- (§ 9) Ultimately ‘To be what we are and to become what we are capable of
being is the only end of life’ said Robert Louise Stevenson. This is
possible only from a healthy mind with a healthy body and a healthy i.e. a FREE
spirit … a life force bathed in ‘freedom’. We desire to continue on this journey of revealing ‘Organon’ to you in a meaningful way for this is the only source that you can fall back on in times of difficulties in treating your patients and it is a journey WITHIN not OUT. We can plant a seed in your mind but to ‘act’ is totally yours. If we can just reveal this through our different programs we would say we have lived our ‘Purpose’. For ‘You cannot travel within and stand still without’ said James Allen. To disseminate and propagate this … to this end NAY to this beginning we have dedicated ourselves. Whether you believe you can do a thing or not, you are right and to this beginning i.e. towards a meaningful existence for Classical Homoeopathy we urge you, to give something of yourself for the betterment of others… For
… when we asked for strength God
gave us difficulties to make us strong. When
we asked for wisdom God
gave us problems to solve. When
we asked for prosperity
God
gave us brain and brawn to work. When
we asked for courage God
gave us dangers to overcome. When
we asked for love God
gave us troubled people to help. When
we asked for favors God
gave us opportunities … We
received nothing … we needed We
received everything … we
wanted.
For
… celebration is our religion, we celebrate Homoeopathy. Homoeopathy
is our religion. ‘Love’
is our message and ‘Silence’
is our truth. We will like to thank everybody who has worked with us and behind the scenes to make this seminar happen. First we would like to thank Dr. Garud and his nursing staff, Mr. Ketan Chudgar and family, Mr. Vipul Vora and family, Mr. Palyekar and family, Mr. Rajen Kothari and family and Dr. Preeti Dhrona and family … for all their affection and care. Yours, Dr. Prasad S. Shetye
It was a beautiful morning for us as we were celebrating the first birthday of our trust ‘Nyanga’. We had the
pleasure of having Dr. Praful Barvalia to light the lamp. The meaning of
‘Nyanga’ is dawn and as its symbolic of the light that dispels the
darkness of the night we hope that this seminar series that we have started will
brighten and enlighten the paths of all those who care to receive it.
AS THE VIEW VARIES SO VARIES SUCCESS
In the last seminar we shared with the participants the importance of ‘Silence’ its meaning and its importance in Homoeopathic practice. We also shared with them different skills that are required to be developed to be a successful homoeopath and how these skills aid us in understanding our patients. We had tried to reveal the beauty hidden in § 84. For all those who attended our last seminar we began where we left last … and for those who were attending for the first time there was still a lot of material to absorb and to improve. This time we went further into the perception of ‘Silence’ … and its multidimensional application. Dr. Prasad put the audience in a meditative and peaceful mood. Upon our ‘Perception’ we Prescribe’ and so in case if it is faulty certainly we cannot get those results. In order to perceive there are many communication tools available and one of them is ‘Mirroring’. He shared with them through a video case with series of follow-ups how mirroring works and how fast the betterment can be … but he stressed that before we can avail of this kind of results we have to first ‘Receive’ and’ Perceive’. Dr. Falguni took over in the afternoon session and spoke further on ‘Mirroring’ and with the help of an audio-case demonstrated how we could ‘Mirror’ on the ‘auditory’ front. She explained how we could pick up from the patients ‘verbal’ language and frame our questions so that they are absolutely in congruence with that of our patient.
In the morning Dr. Prasad took the audience into a journey of § 153 elucidating in detail with the help of video clippings ‘what is a symptom’? He stressed “don’t
fit the remedy into the patient, the patient has to fit the remedy”. He
further explained what characterizes a symptom with the help of detailed videos. Dr. Falguni followed this with a
case further revealing the understanding of symptom. She stressed on what Dr.
Kent has written about symptom … “The patient might as well be sick without
symptoms as have plenty of symptoms and a doctor who knows not the meaning of
symptoms.” Through the detailed understanding of a case with a series of
follow-ups she revealed the beauty of non-verbal expressions.
